445 should be a 44 special. I've had 3 44 special taurus revolvers and they all have run well but not top notch. A big problem is finding off the shelf holsters for them in 2" configuration.

The Taurus 445 is the 44 Special

http://www.eastcountyguns.com/cftaurusrevolvers.htm

The .45 ACP is the Model 455 that uses the steller clips.  I used to own one, but I didn't like the steller clips and I couldn't use the .45 Auto Rim cases which would have made it a much better wood gun.  I couldn't find one in .45 Colt so I decided on the 2" ported 5 shot 44 mag.

I have a 6" 455 in 45 acp and really enjoy the gun.  45LC brass trimmed to 45acp length and sized in the acp die will work just fine in the Taurus 455.  The rim thickness of the 45 LC case is the same as 45acp cases headspaced with the moonclips.  I use a micro chop saw from Harbor Freight to cut the brass down then trim with the Lee case length gauge.  Or you can buy  already made brass from the website below.

I also saw a 4" 455 last month at our local gun show.  Guy was asking $350.

7-30 if you run across a 455 let me know...by the way if I shot a 45 Colt I'd have a 45 Spl. great concept.
Thats one reason I'm looking at a 455.

Buckeye:

I'll keep an eye out for a 4" 455 for you.  I have a couple other sources I can check for handguns here in Nebraska.

I can't believe I missed this on my modified 45 LC cases.  The primers looked flattened not sure if this is because of excessive headspace.  The load I shot was 0.2 grains under the minimum of Ramshot Enforcer.  The cases ejected from the cylinder with no pressure signs.  With regular 45 acp brass/moonclips my primers look fine.

This requires further research.  I will need to fire some modified cases with only a primer and see if they back out of the pocket.  If so, this may have been a bad idea.  Oh well, I can make plinker loads from these cases and stick with my regular cases.  I'll let you all know what happens.

I wonder how much the rim thickness varies between brands of cases?

I use trimmed .45 colt cases in my 455 with no problems, if you try an empty case the primer will back out because there is no force to push the case back with it like a loaded round will do, I use standard loading data and have no flattened primers. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for the link, I now have 100 .45 special cases on the way!
