20 ga auto for slugs

is there anybody that makes a 20 ga autoloader with a slug barrel?  I have a friend with one arm, who loves to deer hunt but can't take the recoil of a 12 ga. and can't work the slide of a pump for obvious reasons.  I sugested a handgun but he said no.  Je said that he would like to find a 20 ga. semi with a rifled barrel, I've been looking and can't seem to find any.  Anybody have any sugesstions?

for autoloaders, you may want to look at Rem 1100 in 20 ga, but a rifled barrel for it will pretty much cost as much as the shotgun itself.

I've found a rifled barrel for my rem 1100 20 ga but unwilling to shell out $300 just for a barrel.

in an autoloader the 12 ga probably won't kick as much, you may want to look into that, as parts and guns are more available and cheaper.

HERE is a Remington 11-87 Sportsman 20 ga. with a 21 inch fully rifled barrel with the cantilever scope mount.

My father wanted to go with a 20 ga. so he bought me the 11-87 Sportsman 12 ga. and I gave him my 11-87 Premier 20 ga. Remington makes a 21 inch fully rifled barrel with rifle sights for it. It has the blued finish to match the Premier finish. The Sportsman 21 inch fully rifled barrel with the cantilever scope mount has the matte finish and will also fit the Premier model. He's going to use a scope so we just bought one of the Sportsman barrels at Bass Pro Shops this morning. I put it on the gun when we got home. This should make a nice lightweight slug gun. After we make sure it shoots good my father is going to have the blued.

Browning also makes a semi auto 20 ga. deer gun.

If I still had to use a slug gun, that Browning is the one I would pick. Using modern sabots, that 20 gauge has all you need for deer. In the 20 gauge semi auto, the recoil is about the same as a 7mm-08.

I'd go with a Remington. They're made in America.............just my $0.02, to each their own!

 You do not need a rifled barrel. The rifled extended choke tube is just as accurate, Tests by all major gun manufactures have stated this. The full rifled barrel is nice and can be debated to death but facts show it really makes no difference as long as you get a spin on the slug.With that in mind it opens up the whole nine yards. With this in mind if you want the lower end cost on autos. Remington makes one. Just hope it does not need service repair as there department stinks on that. If you have trouble with the rails on auto rifles or shot guns and it is the most common failues as they use stamped metal or low grade steel for them. They will replace the gun at suggest retail but not fix. [ YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUY A GUN AT YOUR LOCAL DEALER CHEAPER] AND they keep the old unit. That is why many folks who sell the used Remingtons are very shy about getting the autos in trade or buy. First thing they look at is the rails. There assebled here in the U.S.A. But import about half or more of there parts. Really dont know how they get away with made in the usa label. I have many friends that have the Rem and are very happy though. Moss berg makes one all so. They sell more shot guns to the world military than any other manufacturer so tryed and proven. I probally have owned one or two of most manufatures shot guns in my life. I have found that each is to a personal feel. On the Higher end and probally the most common is the Browning. Of course compairing the Rem or Moss berg to them is like driveing a Modle T virs a New Caddie. Browning is the Caddie of course. Pick one up and feel it and you can see the difference. But again cost about 2 to 3 times more. They have a very different type rear sight, and front. You can just see the quality there and in the wood, Again every gun shoots different. Some shoot slug excellent others so so and some not at all. With the riled tube or barrel you inhance your chances. Again Browning imports parts and assembles here in USA on many and some in other places are assembled. Personaly I love the 20 and 28 gauge in my later years.  One thing you may not have thought of is the over and under. Again with the tube the low end Moss berg silver works great and doesnt cost a lot of moneys.

           In my opinion the 1100 Rem. with any barrel or chokes would be the way to go. In the field you'l see twenty oh heck mabe thirty Rem's to one Browning, gee I wonder wy? Mabe it's because they are alot more popular, a work horse! I have to say the Brownings are pretty and like a Caddie. The Browning won't wear out sitting in the gun cabinet like my neighbors Caddie sitting in his garage alll the time. My son had a Mossberg wouldn't eject half the time and rusted bad just sitting in the gun cabinet. I really hope are troops are useing something better than those!

Mossberg quality must have really gone downhill lately then.  I have a 500 from the ‘60s that has had thousands of rounds put through it and only failed to eject once and that was on one of my bad reloads.  It didn’t collect any rust in those years either and if I could only own one shotgun the 500 would be it.  I also like my Rem 11/87 but it hasen't seen the action or killed the number of deer the old 500 has..

  Every one has there favorite. And thats good. If it fits you and shots the way you want stay with it. But again if your shooting a Remengton or Savage. Hope you dont have to send it two customer service. Probally should fire the whole bunch. As to seeing more of one kind than another in make of fire arms it kind of depents on groupe you hunt with. Some areas one is more popular than others.
