lee 7mm soup can
« on: March 03, 2007, 06:05:05 PM »
I bought one of these 6 hole molds from Midsouth a couple weeks ago. Today I FINALLY got around to using it! I melted about 8 pounds of a #2 alloy to test the mold. Only being a 130 grain bullet it was surprising how quick the pot emptied. The bullets are .286" in dia and weigh about 128.5 grains. I had some trouble handling that long mold. most of my other molds are 1 or 2 hole types. The sprue handle seems to be in an awkward place for me. I tossed the sprue back in after about every 5 casts to cool the melt and mold. Now It's time to load them in 7tc/u,7IHMSA ,7BR and 708 cases and see if there is any hope for accuracy. I'd love to use these on ground hogs.
