1917 walnut only??
« on: March 03, 2007, 08:58:28 PM »
I got a Remington 1917 enfield and the wood sure doesn't look like any kind of walnut I ever seen.
Was other woods used on the 1917 other than walnut?

thanks for any info.

Willy

Willy - I know they used Birch and Maple in place of Walnut on some other stocks but I'm not sure about the M17.  Couple of suggestions:  one of our sponsors is a stock maker and might know what woods were used on the M17, and Remington might have that information in their historical files.  HTH.  Mikey.
