new .243 ultra bull
« on: March 04, 2007, 10:37:51 AM »
I really want an accurate 243. don't care if it's single shot. the twist rate on the H&R ultra is 1-10" and that is good for bullets under 100gr. //does anybody know if this 243 ultra bull brrl is an accurate shooter with 100gr bullets. I own a 223 which shoots 55gr so I want an accurate 100gr 243 next. did not buy yet, just lookin at this 243 ultra and drooling. HELP

Most .243 NEF/H&Rs shoot 95gr-100gr good, but not all of em, some seem to shoot 85gr and lighter best.

My 243 bull is very accurate with 80 grain bullets. I haven't shot 100 grain in it though. Charlie

I have a .243 HandiRfle that currently has a 6.5-20x-44AO scope but I am not happy with the scope. What are you fellows using for glass on your .243s?

Interesting Mueller scope ya got there. The focus is on the eye piece. I think I prefer that to the AO scope I have now. The thing about a .243 is that it is a good deer rifle(close up hunting) and it is a good varmint rifle(long distance hunting). That's asking alot from both the scope and your wallet.

44.5 grains of  IMR4831 with 75 grain a max work great with mine. I to have problems with 100 grain.
One thing I did figure out is that is no good in my gun to get close to the lands. Since I started using the manual COL and working close to that my groups have gotten tighter. Good luck,   TVC15

That's not a focus knob, it's the illumination control and battery compartment, typical of most illuminated optics, the IGR mean Illuminated Glass Reticle, the X-hair is etched into the glass and illuminated. ;)
