Australian .303 Enfield MK III

I recently picked up an Australian .303 Enfield MK III.  It looks to be in good shape with a decent bore.  Any experience or advice or history would be appreciated.  Walt

While Great Britan converted to Md1Mk4 for their war production, the Aussies kept the "3".  Well built and good shooters.  Occasionally you'll find brass pins in the wood to stop it from splitting.  They used local wood for the furniture and it was fairly soft (coachwood ).

Over all, they are quality firearms.

I had a Mk3 a few years ago.  Manufactered in 43'.  It shot great and looked even better.  They were made in Bathrust, AU.  If you want a blade for the front, go for a mangrove one.  That is what normally came on them.  There is a book all about the Enfields as well a great website devoted to them, but I will have to find it.  Hope it helps.
