Just Starting Out
« on: March 06, 2007, 07:03:49 AM »
Well....after reading on this site for a couple of months....I went into town today and put a .25-06 handi on layaway.  I hope ya'll are proud, because the information gleaned from this site helped me make a decision on a new rifle.  :D

Welcome aboard agger1142. I for one am proud of you for taking the first big step in becoming a Handiholic. There may not much chance of redemption for you now, once you get that fine 25-06 and start shooting it you will most likely be hooked. It's great to have you with us....<><.... :)

 The next thing you'll want 223 thence maybe a 30-30 , 45-70 too.
every body needs a 30-30 & 45-70, Good luck. Marv.

you know i dont know what makes these rifles such a fun addition to the gun collection, but man i really love my .223, everytime i go out hunting or to the range people just laugh when i pull my .223 handi equipped with choate varmint stocks and a 6-24x44 konus mil-dot scope out of the case. i just smile and go about my business, once they see me punching 3 shot groups into a 1 inch by 1 inch square 100-150 yards down they stop laughing right quick and in a hurry and ask "how much did that thing cost" and "that things alright"  lol thats when i start laughing at them.  needless to say with a little time and effort that thing u got will be shooting great and you will be having a ball im sure of it!!! enjoy ;D

good luck
adam

aggar1142 ...

Welcome to the GBO family ! I have never owned a .25-06 but I sure want to someday. I have 2 .223 Handi's that I am very proud of. They are both sub-moa rifles that are just fun to own (kinda what Hazard said.) The Handi's are kind of like that potato chip commercial from years gone by ... "you can't just eat own one" ...

Is that you playing the banjo in the avatar?

Nah, I'm not playin a banjo in the picture (I had one, but sold it last semester when I went back to college for another degree), I'm actually playin a buddy's bass, and the other guy is playin a mandolin.  I went to Raleigh to visit some friends, and we just decided to play new instruments.  I play guitar a bit, and so does he.

Thanks for all the well wishes everyone.  I suppose now I'll have to start thinking about my next purchase, possibly a .30-06 or a .280, haven't quite figured out which I like better yet.

I started with a 223.  Now I have 15 of the things.  They just keep following me home!  Honest!  But I can quit anytime I want too.   NEF ought to give you the first one, it's that bad an addiction.

Welcome Agger. 8) 8) You will enjoy your 25-06I am sure. I don't own one yet (BUT I WILL) from what I have read they are one of the most accurate of the Handies. I myself am somewhat new to Handies and I will have my new 22-250 Ultra Varmint in a few weeks. I had a 223 that shot sub moa all day long.
