Titanium 45 Colt
« on: March 06, 2007, 12:06:45 PM »
I have a .357 Titanium with  a 4" bbl. and so far have enjoyed shooting it very much. Just found and bought a NIB 45 Colt Titanium also with a 4" bbl.

Was wondering if any of you who have one too have had an experience shooting the hot + loads and even so-called magnum loads that Buffalo, Corbon and Grizzly make. I have shot some of the 180 gr. Buffalo rounds in my .357 without any ill effects but would be interested in any feedback for the 45 Cotl.

Thanks,
Whitewater

I had a .357 Ti with 4" barrel and the hottest .357 ammo I could find seemed milder than in my S&W 66. I got one of the 6" .45 LC Ti guns and shooting anything much hotter than CAS level worked on my fingers worse than the original Contender used to do with a 10" .44 mag barrel and those original hot loads for it back in that day. It hurt and even a glove didn't fix it. About the most obnoxious thing I've shot in awhile. And the first one had to go back before I even fired it. They returned it as it was and it went back again. This time they replaced about everything on it but the frame and that really needed to be as it had a crack from the get go and I was afraid to shoot it really. Eventually it was replaced with a new gun but man that recoil level of it was BAD.

Dear Graybeard,

Thanks for your reply and comments. Would you please define CSA level loads as I am drawing a blank. I went back into the archives and read some of your commetns made back then and may take this revolver to a gun show this weekend.

Thanks again,
Charlie

CAS NOT CSA. Means Cowboy Action Shooting ie very light loads.

I had the 450 (2" w/fixed sights) for a short term and while I didn't shhot any of the loads you listed (didn't know if I wanted or dared to subject the gun to them) My loads were heavier than factory colt loads and were a handfull but not intolerable.  I imagine that Corbons or Buffalos would be QUITE a handfull.
Just another worthless opinion!!

I traded this Ti 45 for a S&W Performance Center 327 this past weekend. Always wanted one and got a good deal to boot!

Have the steel frame model and have had for a long time, I have no issues with it and have shot literley 1000's of rounds. That said I wouldn't,t like to shoot the same through the titanium one, just to light IMHO.
