Trimming Brass
« on: March 06, 2007, 12:39:36 PM »
We all love to trim brass... I had the pleasure of trimming 197 pieces today. I use a RCBS Trimpro 2 (manual).
How much variation in the legnth do you get?

I usually check about every ten.  Variation is between .001 and .003.  I also use trim-pro.  I use the lyman power de-burring tool for cleaning up, can't beat it.

For my centerfire 22 caliber varmint cases I found a 3way cutter at a bargain price and save a couple of steps

I trimmed  30 pcs of .300WSM brass today using my favored trimmer, the lee case length gauge and trimmer, all brass measured tween 2.0895" and 2.0910" after champfering and deburring.

I've got a Giraud trimmer, takes me 5 minutes per hundred to trim cases, very consistent on length.

One of the power trimmers would be great but I too, use the manual RCBS.
As far as the lenght consistancy goes...It really is worthwile to mount the trimmer on a good board as said in the Inst. I then use board clamps on either end to secure the whole works to the bench.
Is verry close on the lenght consistancy when doing this.

I use a Forster manual trimmer and it seems to be pretty consistant so long as I lock the case in properly.
