308 Garands
« on: March 07, 2007, 01:15:14 AM »
Does anyone have any input on 308 Garands. I just purchased one that looks and shoots awesome. Are there any safety issues or concerns that I should be aware of? Thanks, EXGM1

The ones I have seen run fine - about the only thing you need to watch for is NOT to get an '06 stuck in the chamber.  I won't be the end of the world, however, it will keep you off the line for a while.  They make a great rifle, enjoy it....if yours does not already have one, Brownells sells a  block that will prevent '06's from even starting in....

Is yours a stock garand chambered (rebarrelled) for 308 or equiped with a chamber ring to effectively shoulder the 308 in an 06 chamber or is it one of the Beretta garands that were re-barrelled in 308 and re-worked to utilize the M14 magazine.

I have seen both and have fired the Beretta rifle and they are both fine.  No problems at all. HTH.  Mikey.

EXGM1:  Thanks.  If that's a SA re-barrel you just ought to stock up on clips and a bunch of 7.62 ball, and have a ball.  Mikey.
