turnaround time
« on: March 07, 2007, 12:54:36 PM »
anybody sent a rifle back for new barrel lately? if so, about how long did it take? I have a paid shipping label from H&R and thought I might use it to pick up a new barrel, but the weather is so nice here this time of year I don't want to be without my gun for very long. (yes I have others, but they're not as new, not handi's and that's not the point)

They've had one of mine since Feb.2. I was told today that it would be three more weeks.

You would think they would hire more people so the turn around time would be less. It is terible that you send your gun in and you don't get it back for 6 to 8 weeks.

I really think that they might be blowing a good thing here. I myself want to send in for a couple barrels but I don't want to be with out my gun for 2 and a 1/2 months. I am sure that others feel the same way. I think they must be losing alot of money from the people that want barrels and don't want to lose there guns that long. That is why you see on Ebay barrels going for 2 times as much as if you were going to buy them from the factory. Even if they raised there prices by another $20.00 per barrel and hired more people I think they would sell more barrels if the wait time was shorter. This is just how I feel.

well nuts to them. I really wanted a 30/30 I was going to ream out to 30/30 AI and play with bullets and loads in the lovely E tx spring, but it sounds like I wouldn't get it back until it was hot hot hot. boo hiss.

Hey Gray,
They got mine on Jan. 16 and said "8-10 weeks". Talked to them today and they said it was in the shipping dept. and I should get it in a couple of days. Just short of the 8 weeks. 8)

I wouldnt mind too much if it was 8 weeks in the summer for my only handi to be in for barrels, but not at this time of year when yotes are calling.  I agree with Dale, they could be adding to their staff at the company and filling more orders.

thats good news.  Sounds like the turnaround time is getting a little better.  I dont count travel time against HR.  I think HR should have 3 weeks, and then add both directions shipping.  So, 8 weeks door to door is probably about 6 weeks of HR time.

As little as 3 weeks including shipping has been reported in the last couple months!! H&R got more help in January to catch up and they did rather quickly, with the summer doldrums looming, I'd expect quick turn around times.
