.270 Win.
« on: March 07, 2007, 01:28:00 PM »
I am considering loading up some 90 grain Speer TNT bullets for my Remington 700 in .270 win.  Anyone ever load these rounds for woodchuck hunting?  Is the barrel rifling too fast for this short of a bullet?  How about accuracy?

Thanks for any responses.

Hey tipiguy,,years ago I loaded these slugs in my .270,,,what a scorcher!!,,the slug is not  fur friendly!!!it's accuracy differs by gun/load,rangeing from dead on to abismal,,it's terminal perfomance can be called STARTLEING!!!!,,most .270 users after fur usually go to 100 gr. or 110 grnr.s at slightly slower speeds,,Elmer Kieth considered the .270 an EXCELLENT coyote caliber!!!!!!! :o :o

Don't think fur friendly is an issue!

I did this about 5 years ago and the trusty Rem 700 .270 has never been the same!  Ha!  Best combo i've come across in years!

Some of the pic's...

My farthest shot so far is about 450+yds...I have a 3.5x14x44mm scope on mine too.

I Dont have a 270, but the 110 grain V-max shoots better from my 270 wsm than the sierra.  you might want to give them a try if the 90 grainers dont group.
