Katahdin barrels

Does anybody know which forearms can be used on a Katahdin barrel?

The Katahdin takes a forend that is made just for the Katahdin barrel since the barrel controur is bigger than the standard barrels.  You might be able to open the barrel channel up with some sandpaper and a dowel rod if the diameteres are close.  I do think the hole spacing is the same.

Depends on if it is a rifle or muzzleloader. 50cal muzzlleloader fore-ends fit the katadin 209x50. For a rifle it's a little more complicated.  Custom shop heavy barrels are a different diameter than production heavy barrels, but, are the same diameter as katadin barrels. You can use a "customs shop heavy barrel fore-end," which are available from www.foxridgeoutfitters, these are the ones that are the same contour as the katadin rifles. They also offer walnut for them.

Kahtadon rifle barrels (460,500,45/70) take a special forend made for it.  I have only seen them in walnut and black composite.

Funny dang thing, my fore end from my Pro Hunter 25-06 bolted right up to my new 460 Katahdin barrel.  How did that happen if they take a different fore end?  Should I return both barrels to TC since they are obviously tapped incorrectly or what?  Please advise.  Now maybe that blued older Katahdin barrel required a different fore end or forearm if you willl.  But those on the Pro Hunter take the same as any other Pro Hunter frame when attached to the one's I own.

Go to T/C website and you will see the nomenclature. Just because a certain forend screws in does not necessarily make it the correct forend. For me, I bought the forend made for the Katahdin. Go to Midway and you will see them there.

Verified with TC customer service today that the Pro Hunter Katahdin barrels use normal Pro Hunter rifle forends.  The blued ones from a couple years back do take a special forend.

I think you might also find that a difference is that you are talking about Pro-Hunter stuff which I think has a bigger diameter than the standard barrels.  Bottom line is that a Katahdin barrel is a larger diameter than a standard or heavy barrel.  There, you are advised and can send it all back for all I care.

You are correct. I ordered the wrong forend. It was a Kahtadin forend but the new Pro Hunter Kahtadin barrel forends use the same forends as the standard Pro Hunter (non-bull) forends. The old style Kahtadin barrels were blued and 18 inches long with muzzle tamers. The new are 20 inches long, fluted, Pro Hunter style. I confirmed that with T/C. I went ahead and ordered a Flex Tech stock and forend. Should be a nice setup.
My Katchadin Pro Hunter barrel came with a Williams rear peep sight and a fiber optic front sight. Nice surprise on the peep sight! I really like peep sights.
