You say your friend is a good shooter. That being the case, as he pulled his hair out I'm sure he checked for all the obvious stuff.
Hmmm, leme see, any commonality here? Ahhhh yup, BROWNING. Bet a dollars worth a jelly doughnuts it's plain just the gun.
Why am I so adamant about it? Well quite frankly I'm a little more than pissed at what we buy for quality these days from the major gun builders. Nobody in the market for a new rifle should have to grit their teeth when they lay down the froggies for a new rifle. Will it shoot, or will it group like a shotgun?
I got burned with a Remington Sendero a few years back. By all laws of logic, that gun should have shot into one ragged hole at a hundred. It had everything going for it. Best I could get out of it with factory OR my best handloads was right about a 3 inch group.
What was wrong with it? Hell, I don't know. But I took the attitude that it was junk and dumped it, at a loss of course. Sure, I could have sent it back to Remington, and got jerked around, waited 6 months to get it back and start over. All ammo of course at MY expense. Nah, keep it. They couldn't get it right the first time, I doubt they will 2nd time around.
OK, so I'm the consumer from Hell, but I reserve that right as I am a paying customer.
