I'll be trying out turkey hunting for the first time this season.  I've got a 12 ga single shot with full choke, or my brother is letting me borrow his Benelli Super 90 with xtra full.

I hunt with the Etowah Sportsman's Club in N. GA.

Anyone headed into the woods this weekend?  I still haven't fixed the axle on my 4wd, but I'll be hitching a ride in a Jeep so we can get back to some of the less hunted areas on the lease.  I'll be out there on Sunday.

Anybody have any luck this weekend. I heard one fly down this morning, little bit of hen noise, and one really close gobble. But I couldn't call him in. Lots of scratching around sign.

I was traveling up US 19 North just south of Thomaston about 3pm on Saturday, there was a nice hen standing on the shoulder of the road. Strange

Went opening morning in S.E. GA, lots of gobbling, also all henned up, and lots of jakes ( good to see we had a good hatch).  Went back Sunday morning, even more gobbling, 4 jakes with 8 feet, longbeard flew down within gunrange.  Good start to the season.  Lots of turkeys being killed down here.  Steve

Man, I was already wanting an eight legged turkey for Thanksgiving.  The kids would be in heaven with that many drumsticks.

I was driving today and a good sized bird crossed the road a few cars up from us.  Everyone had to stop while it walked across the road.  It was in a fairly residential area.
My dad saw eight up towards his house, including a big tom that was strutting around.
We'll hit the woods tomorrow and hopefully have as much luck as we've had driving around town.

Hey!  That's where I live.  I told that goofy bird to stay in the yard.
