Mac,
I had some headspace issues that I think I have corrected. It's a Savage and I re-adjusted the headspace, but haven't had a chance to load and get back to the range. My primers were getting flat with mid level loads, and I think I remember reading somewhere that too much headspace might cause this too. I guess the cartridge/primer moving back and forth can make it flat, so hopefully that is the issue.
There were also a few missfires that I hope can be attributed to the headspace as well, allowing for weak primer strikes.
There were starting signs of it in the other loads (nosler 210gr Partition, Hornady 225gr Interlock) but nothing like the Accubond. ALL my loads chrono'd at least 100-150 (some cases more) faster than the book says that should.
I am going to load some more up, but with base level loads and see what happens. Accuracy wasn't what I'd hoped for, BUT I was also using a 4X scope and it's hard to make itty bitty groups, for me, at 100yds with a 4X.
I'm hoping all the issues, flat primer, accuracy, headspace will be worked out the next trip out.
Gotta tell ya though, shot some 180's at a steel target at 300 and 400yds, and that baby got there FAST
, like one other posted over at Savage shooters.com, with 3200fps (some shots) for a 180bullet, that puts it square in the 300 RUM territory. Almost spooky.
