Mossy 22's
« on: March 08, 2007, 02:45:12 PM »
Thanks Graybeard for the new forum!!!
I have always been a big fan of the Mossy 22's. I have a 146B that was made in [I belive] 1955. It was my father's and was passed down to me.  It is pure stock and will out shoot any of my other 22's to include my "highly modified" 10/22  Henry Golden Boy and Remington pump.I have been asked to sell it a number of times but [in time] I would like to pass it down through the family.
Anyone else on the forum shoot a Mossy 22?.......JJ

Hi Swamp Yankee

I too am a fan of Mossberg .22's. I have a few (146B,151K,151M) and a 152 on the way. I also have a 26B project gun and a 640KA 22 mag.

I am trying to collect Mossberg 22's for the 1950's so have a couple of models to go.

I sure like these guns and no one makes fun of them at the range anymore.

I also have a 190 16 gauge bolt action project in the works.

Great guns and look forward to talking to the folks on this new forum.

Richard

Mossberg Model New Haven, single shot, bolt action. Had it since late 50's/early 60's. My dad gave it to me for Christmas. Still shoot it for squirrel/chipmunk control in the back yard. Functions like new and is very accurate. No broken or missing pieces. My 7 year old grand daughter shoots it some and calls it hers.

Those prices kinda brings a tear to my eye. Some of those guns are going for an awful price on the auction sights and the prices on ebay for Mossberg parts can be criminal.

I've been a fan of Mossberg shotguns for years, but only recently began noticing the .22's.  The more I see, the more I like.

Thought I might add a picture of the only two I have ... so far. ;)

Mod 46(b)

Thanks.

Joe I like the looks and size of the bottom .22 Mossberg rifle in your picture, it looks "man sized"....<><.... ;D

Wish I still owned my Mossberg  Palamino 22. Best shooting rimfire I ever owned. :)

I have part of a Mossy. My Stevens Model 44 has been rebarrelled with a 44US barrel. This single-shot is a real tack-driver, especially with the tang sight I bought from Dixie Gun Works. I passed up the chance to buy a complete 44US rifle back in the 80's for $90. Just didn't have the cash.

Just starting to appreciate these fine old rifles.

Here's a 144 I just got:

Shoots like a house afire.

Very Nice, 218Bee.  ;)

Those 144's are getting pricey.

Thanks EVOC. It's wasn't a super bargain price, but I didn't get hurt on it either. All the metal is there and even the safe and fire dots are in place. The trigger breaks like glass.

I can come closed to my scoped rifle score if I can get my head down on the stock. No bad for a 50 year old rifle. Surely it shoots better the the nut behind the trigger :D

Almost fainted!! Walked into my local gun shop and low and behold what do I see for sale? A Mossberg "palamino" 22 lever. It followed me home and made my day. Just like a kid again. ;D
