shot size?

Im switching my 20ga loads from 7/8 oz to 3/4. Should I switch to #9 shot or stay with #8? Also what range do you guys pattern your guns for skeet? I just started skeet last year so this year I want to get a little more serious. Thanks for the help.

Number 9 shot is THE correct size for all skeet shooting it's the only shot size most skeet shooters use.

I don't pattern my guns except on the skeet range. If I'm right I get smoke hanging in the air from the shot, if I'm centering the targets and not getting it I know something isn't right. I use Briley choke tubes in all my guns. In .410 and 28 gauge I use those marked SKEET and for 20 gauge I use CYLINDER in the lower barrel and SKEET in the upper barrel. For what little 12 gauge shooting I do and that's very little I prefer CYLINDER tubes.

From ALL stations other than station 8 it is 21 yards from the station to the center pole crossing point.

Graybeard, Do you shoot 3/4 with your 20 or 7/8? I just dont want to end up with holes in the pattern.

I seldom shoot the 20 gauge at all, when I do I use 7/8 oz. Most of my shooting is done with the .410 using 1/2 oz followed by the 28 gauge with 3/4 oz. I doubt that more than 10% of my shooting is done with the 20 gauge and 7/8 oz loads.
