Accuracy of Model 7?

I am considering buying a Remington Model 7 in .260 cal. It is brand new and has the 18.5 in. barrel. I love its light weight, and that is one of the reasons I am considering it. I have heard though from two different people that because the barrel is so thin, these guns are not very accurate. Is this true? Some of you Model 7 owners please let me know the  real story about its accuracy. Would I be better off buying something else, if so, what? I really want a light weight rifle. This would be for whitetails, by the way.

My wife has a model 7 in .260, and it is a tack driver.  she has sat at the bench and shot up to 2 boxes of shells through it without it changeing POI.  This is her deer gun, and I have no qualms about it's ability to do the job.

my most accurate rifle is a remington mounatin rifle that has the slim barrel...unreal how accurate it is,and i havent even handloaded any yet..
i have got under 1 inch groups with 2 diff kinds of factory ammo.

If the barrel quality is good & the bedding is good, then it should be fine out to the range that most people would buy this gun to
handle.
