Super Blackhawk Long Screw and Ruger Customer Service
« on: March 12, 2007, 05:08:46 AM »
Please tell me that I am not the only one who has done this...

Being the conscientious gun owner that I am, I gleefully proceeded to completely disassemble my new SBH, per the directions in the manual.  Gave it a good thorough cleaning with Shooters Choice and Break Free Lubricant/Preservative.  When I went to put it back together,  Screw A wouldn't thread into hole B properly.  You know, the long screw that goes in below the trigger, and holds in the hammer and hammer pin?  Somehow the threads on the screw became stripped, so that it wouldn't thread in at all.

I called Ruger Customer Service and they are sending a new screw.  What blew my mind, is after explaining how I did this, they aren't charging me for it.  I even asked the lady on the phone if there would be a charge, and she said no.  WOW!  Haven't had that happen with CS in quite a while.  Made my day, and I just wanted to share it.
I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

I've called them for a spring that went  on me and same thing - I wouldn't expect it and certainly wouldn't be upset if I did need to pay.  My stupidity, my dollar.  While only a small inexpensive item, it's that offering that counts.
