the prairie master's are the bottom of the line for Simmons I believe.  I have a couple of them on my nef 22 hornet and my #1 223 and I have no complaints and am actually quite pleased with both.  Hope this helps.

I like the Banners a lot. Good scope for the money.

I'd have to go with the Banner also, although Simmons has made some very good inexpensive glass in the past like the WTC, WTE and the ATV, the inexpensive current production low end Simmons have a checkered reputation at RFC, and that's on rimfires for the most part. Simmons does have a good reputation for replacing bad optics, and with the  Prairie Master, 8-point and Blazers, you may very well need their support!!  :-\

I have a $30 simmons 3-9x40.
I have mounted it on two different rifles.
Twice on one of them.
Has allways sighted in and held zero for me.
I'm not saying they are the best out there but it works fine for me.

I just mounted a Banner 1.5-4.5  Dusk & Dawn on my old Remington 700ml. Appears to be very clear with good eye relief for $ 51. (bought it on ebay) All of my other rifles sport Leupold scopes, but I couldn't warrant the cost for this seldom used muzzleloader. The scope was made in China, and I haven't had the chance to shoot it yet, but for the cost it was worth the chance.

Thats a tough choice. I have a 4-12 Banner and a 4-16 prairie master both work very well for me. The target turrets do seem to works on the prairie master. I setup my 25-06 with a ballistic calculator and marked every 100 yds. I made 2 very amazing shots with it this year. I would say my Banner is very slightly clearer but not much. I would alsogive the banner the edge in low light. But both are good scopes for the dollar. I will probably be ordering a 6-24 Prairie Master for the .220 swift I'm putting together on my savage because of my good luck on the target turrets. I'll be using it for coyote hunting so the light gathering won't be a major factor.

Can't go wrong with the Banner. Have several of them and no problems with any. Have a couple of .44 Mags I bought when they were closing them out. Wish I had bought more.

If you're willing to consider it, Midway has a Simmons Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50AO on sale this month for $99.  It's a really great scope, and especially so at that price.  Doesn't have target turrets or mil-dots, though.

I heard that the wtc has thick crosshairs, but on midway usa it shows that it has thinner crosshairs (truplex?) in the middle part.  Is that true?

The WTC18 has a duplex reticle, but the center section is relatively heavy, not a great reticle for varmint hunting or shooting small groups at longer ranges where a fine reticle or dot would be better, but for the money, it's a great scope. It also has a krinkle(granite) finish that some consider unattractive and is somewhat fragile.
