« on: March 13, 2007, 07:55:17 AM »
has anyone  try useing pumkin balls? i was reading back woods man mag and they were talking about how to make them. When vitchs gun shop was still here were i live  he show me how to make some. i took 12ga buck shot loads and dump out the shot and put a 68cal lead ball in there and used a 1/2 a tea spoon of corn meal atop the ball to hold the crimp. it works out to 40 yards and can hit a 5 inch book at that range. i put all 5 on that book at 30-40 yards standing.

Absolutely...I use something similar to what you described.
My double barrel has two improved cylinder bores and shoots them
well. I use the little mini-shell cases from Aguila.
Why ? Who knows. It's just fun to make them I guess..

What is the weight of a .680 ball? Do you need to use pure Pb or can you use WW Pb?
