Nosler Seconds not very uniform!
« on: March 13, 2007, 02:34:33 PM »
I got 100 .277" 150gr Nosler Partitions from the seconds shop yesterday, loaded up some ammo today, and noticed the lead tips on some of them, 16 our of 100, were substantially bigger than the rest. The weigh within the same range as the rest, 148.8gr to 150.1gr with most around 149.5gr. But the appearance sure is different! ??? I'm gonna load those that were a little different with the load that I find is accurate to see if they shoot into the same group, just to see!

At 100yards you wont find much difference unless the bullets are dynamically unballanced. I am pretty sure they will do fine for hunting and paper punching.

I had some Speer 170 RNs in .308 that were like that , all shot the same , rotten , switched to 150 and they were sweet , and as Fred said unless they are out of balance they should be fine .

I like the old Serria 90gr. and the 130gr. myself in .277 . but i don't hunt Elk with them .

That's what I figured, they'll probably shoot just fine. This is the first batch of seconds that I've been able to see an actual difference in. ;)

Thanks,

Tim

They're about $10-$12 less than retail bullets, $14.25 instead of $27.

quick'

after buying some of their .277" diameter bullets i'd be interested in hearing how you've done with this latest purchase.

we just bought some of their 'solid base'  for a couple of .270's.

take care,
