Comments about the 218 Bee - Good , bad , ugly
« on: March 14, 2007, 07:22:43 AM »
I have a 218 Bee barrel for my Handi rifle on the way , this is a new round for me to load , right now i have loads made up with the Hornady 35 and 40 grain V-Max using H110 . It is a 20" barrel with a 1 in 16 twist .

Does anyone have a pet load that works well or a powder idea that will work better in this little round . right now the loads that i have ready are from 12gr to 13gr in .2gr increases .

Any ideas would be greatly considered .

My only experience with the 218 has been with a Ruger #1-B. This rifle has a 1 in 14 twist, and stabilizes even 55g Nosler BT's with maximum loads.

The best load I've loaded in it so far is 40g BT's, CCI BR-4 primers, and 13g of IMR 4227 if memory serves. It's pushing 3000 fps, and consistantly punches dime sized groups at 100 yards.

Personally, I love the 218 Bee. It's very easy to load for, accurate, and makes an excellent groundhog, or predator rifle.
