Ok guys, here's the situation. I deer and turkey hunt on a friends property in NE TN. He has 40+ acres and has 175 and 210 acres on either side of him that we also have permission to hunt. Terrain is pretty hilly with thick woods, but there are places were a 100-150 yard shot are possible. We have been working hard for the past two years to better the herds with food plots, mineral salt licks, ect. Things are looking pretty good. Then, also about two years ago, people from Knoxville and other surrounding areas began bringing unwanted dogs up into this valley and dropping them off. They are feral as they come and will haul butt at the sight of man. Three weeks ago they got a big doe down in his back yard and mauled her so bad he had to shoot her. We have found several turkey kills on his property and the grouse and rabbits have completely disappeared. He also said he has heard coyotes on the ridge behind his house recently (I think it's the feral dogs barking and howling, but I could be wrong). But it's time to take them out. I'm going to use my 7-08 deer rifle. No sport involved, this is a murder mission only. I've been looking at the Cass Creek Predator Nomad call at Cabelas for $60. Anybody have any experience with this one? It's the one with the remote and 100 yard range. Also thought about the furball on a stick looking wiggling decoys but don't know if it would work. I've got portable blinds and alot of good camo and a good pair of binos. What else do I need? Any advice (like wind in your face and sun at your back)? Fawns and turkey poults will start being born in May and I want the things gone before then. Thanks for any help in advance.
