Thats a fine looking gun txpete, If I had the money I would have bought it also, a great caliber and beautiful wood, and who could not like a single shot!!!....<><.... :)

I've seen a lot of #1's with very nice wood, but every once in awhile one with extremely nice wood. Your's falls into the latter category! Nice to have something good to look at when you're shooting!

I had a 45-70 #1 I bought in 2002 that had a stock that looked like that one.It was built in 87 everyone that saw it thought it was a special run it wasn't,but it was beautiful.I sold it to a guy for a $100 more than I payed for it he must have thought it was special.I'm going to get another one an make it a 45-90 WCF like my NEF is now.Dave

Nice!  I generally prefer a plain drak wood but that is nice.  You'll enjoy it too.  My 45-70 #1 is my favorite of all my 31's.

Texpete.
Yes that is a very nice piece of wood. My #1's all have nice wood but not like yours. I just switched barrels on a 243 an put on a 7x57, I would like to find an Alex Herny forearm. That 243 1B barrel is a very good 1/2" one but I don't have any use for a 243.

Looks like I am going to make it into an octagon and have it rebored to something usefull. Rugers #1 look awesome with an octagon barrel.
