Remington Maple stocks : who made them?
« on: March 17, 2007, 03:36:10 AM »
Did Remington make the Maple stocks on the Model 7600 rifles or did they buy them from some other stockmaker ?

Thanks,

This is all I see at the website in regards to the wood stock:

"A Monte Carlo walnut stock with a satin finish is standard. An optional high-gloss finished stock available in 270 Win. and 30-06 calibers."

He might be refering to those Blonde Maple Stocks that Remington put on some of the Limiteds.

In either case, Remington may be Assembling the rifles in the USA, with parts imported from all over...  Who knows.

I don't know where they got the wood, but the same people that make the standard wood stocks for them made the maple stocks.  They are completely identical except for being Maple.  I have one of those and it is a very pretty rifle.  Unfired at this time.  .25-06.

Apprently Boyd's is making some maple stocks for 700 CDL rifles and believe are supplying the walnut versions to Remington as well.  There is a guy on eBay that was selling and may still be selling some of the seconds.  Both walnut and maple.  I came very close to ordering one of the maples for a .25-06 BDL.  Not sure he has any left at this point.

No idea which distributer is going to be selling the rifles, but AFAIK, they are not yet on the market.
