30-30 load help

What do you guys that load for the handi use?  I would like a light load and a good 160-180 gr whitetail load as well

Not sure what you mean by a "lite" load but I order the 165gr non gas check Oregon trail bullets from midway and load 9.5gr of Unique. Very, very accurate!! Recoil is next to nothing and it moves around 1200-1300 fps.
For Whitetails its been 29gr of IMR 3031 and 170gr Rem Core-locs for as long as I can remember.
Both work great in bolt, lever and single shot.

To someone shooting that 45-120 I am sure that the 30-30 seems like a bb gun.   :o

But I am trying to get my wife to hunt with me this year and thought this might be a good place to start for her.

Tim,

gmdr has 2400 as one of the powders they have used with the .30-30 and I have been using 15.0 gr with a Lyman 311291 with good success.  However, I got 300 fps difference today due to powder position sensitivity in my .38-55 using 2400.  I need to check my .30-30 loads and see if that situation also exists with that application.  :(
