Does any one here own a 1876 in 45-75 or 50-90, looking to buy one of each and was just wondering about the rifles and how they shoot.

The 1876 was basically a modified 1873 that was able to take more powerful cartridges than the 1873 , it's almost identical in looks to an 1873 but was discontinued in 1898 as the model 1886 was more capable and was able to take more powerful calibres.  ;D

You might ask this question on sassnet.com.  Lots of those folks have been buying up the new 1876 replicas.  Some were even tracking them down a few years ago, when they were only available in Germany.

"I want one of those case hardened cimmeron 4440s BAD!"  -Those are 1873 rifles.  Those are all made by Uberti, so you can get the same gun from Cimmaron, Taylor's, EMF, Navy Arms, etc., and just go with whoever offers the options, or price, that you find the most appealing.  Or, for a few $$$ more, you could always track down an original.  Original 1876 rifles are a lot harder to find.

Chapparal (spelling?) Arms, in partnership with Charter Arms is importing the 1876 in .40-60, 45-60, 45-75, and 50-90. I believe it was Buckeye Sports who was distributing it. Suggested retail was around $975.
Ten-X Ammunition is supplying properly headstamped ammo and brass for the rifle. brass can be made from .45-70 brass, but the rim will be different and the extractor will have to be modified.
Check the back issues of the SASS paper.

I figured you knew, Lloyd.  I posted that mainly to clear things up for others following the thread.  Sorry for any misunderstanding on that.

FWIW, I was wrong when I said that Uberti is the only maker of 1873s.  IIRC, that outfit making the 1876 rifle came out with an 1873 not too long ago.  Or, maybe my blood sugar is going low, and I should go take an early lunch. ;D

Hey Aardvark:
Just got one last month.  Wow!   When you work this guns action, it's sounds solid as steel, not hollow like some of the other clones. ;D

P.S.   That's it in the pic  to the left.....
