I shot my pump rifle in a NRA highpower match today
« on: March 17, 2007, 05:28:33 PM »
And did pretty darn good :o This was only my 2'nd match that I've shot in and the first time I had shot my 7615 past 100yds. Shot a score of 354 and as the official put it "you scored 2nd overall with that funny looking rifle" Our match was fired at 2 and 3 hundred meters. My 7615P is bone stock other than a Williams FP rear sight with a .050 aperture and a 1/16'th Marbles gold bead front.

As you can tell I'm pretty pleased with myself ;D With a little more practice maybe next month I can shoot over 400

That's pretty cool! Were the AR shooters bummed 'cause they got beat? Very few things in life are better than being underestimated by the competition!

Have you put a 'scope on it just to see what it'll do?

There is nothing better than the look on the face of an AR-15 owner when he gets outshot.
In my case I do not compete other than local informal shoots but I use a Mini-14 that has had a heavy barrel installed and a trigger job

No I have not........YET, But at 100 yds though the sights on the bench I'm getting just under 2 MOA on average.

what caliber?  Those 7615 rifles are all in .223?   Handloads?  Factory?

the cambering is 5.56-.223 with a 1-9" twist. I've been shooting 55grn FMJBT bullets over a charge of IMR4320 @ 2750 fps or so. Benched groups at 100yds have been outstanding, especially considering the slob hanging off the back of the rifle.
