Was considering using imr/3031 to load 270 win. in 15" encore barrel. I am loading 90 grain sierra and 100 grain speer bullets. Has anyone ever used 3031 in this load. Any suggestions on any other powders that would work good with this load . I tried Varget was not happy with results. I tried H4895 had better results but still not happy. Any info would be helpful.

Opossum this is kind of a guess because I haven't loaded for a 270 win with a barrel that short but I would think IMR 3031 would be to fast burning for the 270 win. At least if you are after something near top velocities. I would think if you wanted to go faster burning that you would with a rifle that you might try something like IMR 4064. In my rifle with a 22" barrel I use AA3100. My gun likes it better than either version of 4831. I've got to try some Reloader 19 sometime though.
