I have had my glock 19 for a couple months now

 This is a great gun! When I was in the service (late 80's) we just switched over to Beretta s as our side arm duty weapon. (from the 38)

I was never very happy with it, but it was more peace of mind than the 38 cal revolver we carried. (with 20 yr old ammo, heaven forbid if we ever needed to use it, we all thought the primer would go bang, and the bullet would fall out of the end of the barrel!)

I own 2 H&K's (USP .45 & .40 S&W full size) and a Sig P229 .357 2 tone with lazer grips.(This is my cool gun  )

I have shoot mabe 1,000 rounds on the G-19 with ammunition grades from Wolf 115gr. TMJ ($5.00 a box of 50) to Speer Gold dot 124 gr. +p($12.50 box of 20) and never one jam, stove pipe, misfire nada!

I am so impressed this weapon, I'm trying to think up a good lie to tell my wife, why I need another one! (I'm thinking of full size 10mm, for a brush, camp gun. never know when a cougar or blackie might think I look better to eat than a mule deer!)

I live in Oregon and have never ran into a cougar bigger than 150lbs or a black bear larger than 250-300lbs. My understanding, on what I have read is the 10mm is comp. to .41mag. Not being a fan of revolvers, I like the idea of 10 rounds in a gun that can take a beating and still come out blazing.

I will take all input and opinions on the Glock 10mm. I am new to this site as well as Glocks in general.

OBTW : Check out outdoormarksman.com, I just picked up a couple of boxes of LE reclaim ammo(speer screwed up on a Government order and installed the wrong primer) 250 rounds per box 124gr. gold dot hp +p 9mm ammo. $29.95 each!  They also had it for 165 & 180 gr. .40 S&W gold dot hp 250rds $39.95 per box. This is the cheapest I have ever purchased this stuff!

Great site, good posters, great gun!
Looking forward to your reply's

Oreducksfan,
They are a piece of work, aren't they? Simple, reliable, and accurate. Not to mention ugly! Still they're not as ugly as the H&K. I am down to two Glocks now having traded off my mdl 19. I own the mdl 21 and 36 in .45. The 36 is about the size of the mdl 19 and the 21 is the largest size Glock makes. The mdl 20 is the 10mm on the same frame. Unless you have very long fingers you may find the mdl 20 too large for your hands. At least handle one, shooting it would be better, before you buy. There is not a lot of factory full power ammo available for the 10mm that I am aware of, that is loaded to the original power level. But-----if you handload!!!! With the hi-cap mags and a +2 it's like having three loaded .41 mags in your hand (18rds). Ooops, I'm starting to sound like a Glock fan! I'm out of here!!

The 10mm G20 is a great all-around handgun. It can be used for personal defense for both two legged, and four legged creatures. The Winchester 175 gr SilverTip is a nice factory load with about 650 ft/lbs of power. Georgia Arms, Texas Ammo, and Cor-Bon also make some HIGH performance ammo for the 10mm. Look here for more Glock info:

I use my 10mm for everything now. There's no need for anything else. One more thing, don't believe all of the nonsense about the 10mm recoil. It's WAY over-rated. MI VHNTR

I prefer the mdl 29 over the mdl 20 for carry due to the size. It's hard to tell the difference in recoil between the mdls 20/21. I prefer the mdl21 due to availability and cost of ammo----------and I just like the .45. Either one will serve you well.

I have shot the 10 mm also, and I think the recoil is a little over-rated too.  If I was to choose an auto for a camp gun in your situation, I would go with it. beat the crap out of it around camp adn you know it will still work like a charm when needed.

:-)      I have shot the 10mm for years(when it first came out).  You guys hit it right on the head.  I think recoil is feared by those that have not had the experiance of actually shooting one.  I remember when I got my 10mm from IAI about 13 yrs ago(maybe longer) everyone was saying the recoil was terrible and you could not control the gun and and it would hurt yer hands.  I even had some of the instructers I was working with telling me this crap.  I told em the gun they were about to shoot was a special job,and the only thing they were to comment on was the recoil.  A couple of the loudest were telling me it was less that the 1911 colt.  To a man, they all shot it extremily well. Then the interest started.  Just prior to me being retired,we were going to the 10mm but that got nixed. Strange...never heard more about the recoil in it from them.  But from what it sounds, most of those who have posted here are experianced shooters, more so that the average individual.  Personally I think the cartridge is a fantastic round.  with a sharper recoil ,and an authoritive report, but still...ya cant complain about either the gun or the round.  Stay safe guys.................king
