Hammer on 94B4
« on: March 19, 2007, 05:56:53 AM »
I have a .22 94B4 and it shoots great.  The only problem is that the hammer is short and heavily knurled.  If I practice a lot in single action, all the hide is off my thumb and it is sore.  Not much fun, but I love to shoot that gun.

I guess no one else has the problem, or if they do they are like me and have no idea how to fix it.  I've even thought about one of the extensions you put on a lever action's hammer when you mount a l,ow scope.  I shot a box through it today and cocking the hammer took all the fun out of it.  I actually wore a hole in a light glove!

Star1pup:
I have a 94SS4 that also had some sharp hammer knurling.  I took a file and LIGHTLY filed until the knurling did not chew up my cocking thumb.  Easy fix.  Hope this helps.

I'll give it a try.  Nice gun other than that problem.
