None of the shops in my area has one. Has anyone seen one?

yes.  I have seen the 798 and the 799.

They aren't that bad.  If you like imports.

They should preform no worse than the Charles Daly Mausers did.  It is the exact same gun made by the exact same manufacturer.  Only this time it is Remington that is importing them.

I went to the Charles Daly web sight and the rifles are no longer being imported by them. The were made in Belgrade Serbia.

Rems Sparten guns are made by Bakial of Russa---I have not seen any of them in the local shops either.

The 798 is now available in stainless , but they haven't been shipped yet , but you can bet as soon as they get hear i am grabbing up one of the stainless 375 H&H models going to top it with my leupold vari-x 2x7  and set it into a hogue overmolded stock with full bedding block.
