SB4 10 gauge

I have a SB4 mag that starts with ser no.  NE  are there any rifle barrels that fit it.

No, firstly although there is a strength difference on shotgun and rifle frames, the shotgun frames being weaker, some here have put some of the less intense rifle barrels on shotgun frames, .22 Hornet, .357 Mag (preferably using .38 specials in it) but you have another problem as well, if your 10 gauge frame (NE indicates it was made in 1990) is similar to today's newer 10 gauge frames your frame is larger than a standard H&R shotgun frame and only 10 gauge barrels or a 12 gauge USH (Ultra Slug Hunter) barrel will fit it, your frame is "beefier", a bit larger than regular shotgun and rifle frames from the company....<><.... :)

    I thought something with 61 ft lbs of recoil energy would handle the 222  5 ft lbs of recoil. I guess the 11,000 lup vs 50,000 psi make the difference. The orignal 158 toppers came in 22 hornet, 30-30, 155 Shikari 44mag,and 45-70 circa 1979. Would these calibers work. When did H&R start making 10 gauge.

Your right it's the chamber pressure, not the recoil. I do not know when they started making 10 gauges but it was quite a few years ago. A call to customer service on the toll free number with your complete serial number will get you all the info you need on your gun....<><.... :)

  I'm glad I listen to the advice on this board and left the big 10 alone. Seen a 204 with the heavy barrel and extractor at Gebos farm supply store and walked out the door with it for 215.00. Great gun and caliber.

The 204 is a great caliber and fun to shoot.  You will love it.
