Remington 700 BDL ?
« on: March 20, 2007, 03:21:29 PM »
Two questions.  I purchase a Remington 700 in .270 from my brother-in-law ( he had won it in a raffle).  He did not know any of the particulars on the weapon.  Only time it was fired was to sight in, before I got it.  I have been told it is a BDL but it is a little different from BDL's I have seen in the stores.  It has all kinds of scroll work (etchings) on the receiver and the floor plate,  floor plate even has a Ram etched into it. Is this just some kind of special edition or was it a regular model?
Next question,  I have some medium Leup riflleman rings (aluminum) fitted around a Busnell Trophy 3-9x/40 scope  and I want to change them out with Burris Signiture Zee rings. There is absolutely no room to spare on height.  If the Burris medium rings are any lower than the Leup rings I am in trouble.  Are medium in one the same as medium in the other or should I just go to high rings?  I am new at this game and any help would be greatly appreciatecd.  This is my first gun with a scope,  heck other than my dad's old Win 25-35, I have never fired anything over a .22 or shotgun.

Thanks

Don't know what you paid but it sounds like you lucked out.  The packaging for the scope rings should give you the max size of the scope bell that will fit in the rings.  I'm gonna guess that med's will work with your 3x9x40.

I don't have any pictures but I will post when I get them. As far as ring height,  the problem is not so much scope bell clearance as it is bolt clearance.  Think I will just "bite the bullet"a and get the med burris rings.

That scope and ring combo worked for me on a BDL.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  As I said this is the first rifle that I have purchased myself and I love it.  I have already killed 2 deer ( my first ones ever)and 1 coyote with it ( thats how my brother-in-law got me to buy it).   Since then I have put a new scope on it and had the trigger pull reduced to 4 lbs.  I may be 53 years old but I fee like a kid.

           Thanks Again
