Kimber price

Hey guys,

I have recently been bitten by the 1911 bug. I have several pistols, but no 1911's as of now. After spending lots of time reading on this forum, I have decided on a kimber. I cannot afford to spend a lot of money on a top of the line kimber, so I have decided (I think) on a plain jane custom II. I am going to start shopping soon, so I would like to know what you guys would be willing to pay for a new custom II. Gun shops in my area are sparse, so I may have to look elsewhere to get a decent price. I can see from my reading that there is a lot to know about 1911's, and I've got a lot to learn. Any info or advice you could give me would be appreciated.

Kimber is a great choice.  A basic Custom II model should run as low as the high $500 range to the mid $600.  Anything over that I would think you are paying too much.  I always look around on GunBroker or Auction Arms to get a feel for price ranges when I'm looking into something new.  Of course if you aren't set on brand new you can always cruise the the classifieds here on GBO or even pawn shops.  I own a used Ultra Carry II that I lucked into at one of the local gun shops.  I payed $400 for the pistol, 3 mags, and two set of grips.

Id look for a used gun.   There are tons of guns out there that have hardly been shot.  Look on-line.

just handled a new 5 inch 11 at the local gunshop saturday. It was as tight as my gold match and believe me thats a tight gun. I was pretty impressed with it. Ive had two customs one a 5 inch target and the other a 3 inch carry and they were both good guns. Personaly id take one over a springfield loaded anyday.

I trudged through the snow Saturday evening and did some shooting with my new classic at camp. As I mentioned, I am new to the 1911, so I can't compare it to the others that are out there. I will say it it seems to be very well built, and it seems well worth the money I paid. I am amazed at how solid this gun feels. So far, I am a very satisfied customer.

Jay bird did you happen to buy that gun at harrys gunshop if so it was yours that i handled when you were picking it up. Im the big headed ugly guy that hangs around harrys alot!

Nice to meet you Lloyd! That WAS me at Harry's on Saturday. What a small world! I have been reading your posts (and learning a lot) since I found this site a couple years ago. It turns out we don't live to far away from one another (I live in Wetmore). I don't post here often, as I spend most of my time reading the many other informative posts. I do check out the GB forum just about every day though! Again, good to meet you.
