Spread out our posts
« on: March 21, 2007, 07:41:30 AM »
I have been trying to spread out my questions on the web site.
Also been trying to search the other topics and answer questions as much as posible.
I wish some other poeple would also.
Not trying to make anyone mad but it's better when searching for past info if it is under the proper section.
There is a lot of info in NEF/H&R that doesn't belong and is hard to weed through when you need it.

Please don't get mad at me. I just think it would be best for all of us.

If it pertains to the Handi's...it stays..Lot's of topics hold some meaning to them...especially about reloading...and since a lot of us have other types of rifles...they are brought up and talked about from time to time when comparing the differences.....Not to mention other off topic discussions that inform the members here of someones health...Which BTW is the only one of 2  I can see that isn't 100% handi related on this page...and the other is a handi-holic asking for range information from other handi-holics...

Some handi-holics only visit this forum...even though there are as many here at GBO than just about any other site out there...in case you didn't realize that ;)

by spreading out questions, do you mean if you ask a question, wait a few days 'till you ask another one?

how does stuff end up in the wrong section?

I think what Partsman is getting at is if its a reloading ?? post it in the Handloading forum and if it is a scope ?? post it in the Optics forum , while it may be a good idea , when it comes to the Handi , alot of this info pertains to this rifle only as far as what loads work well or what optics help and which ones will not hold up , Ect.

The single shot rifle is an animal unto itself and even the handi is diffrent from other SSs just by design alone . that is why GBO has so many diffrent forums , so this kind of thing can be descussed on a issue by issue basis .

I actually prefer the posts to be in this forum, when the search feature was working, I only searched this forum cuz I knew I had a 99% chance of finding it here if it pertains to a Handi, dunno if the selective search will ever be enabled again, but we can always hope. The google search isn't selective, so you will get lots of different forum hits, and it is getting better as time passes, as Matt said it would.

One thing that would help a lot, is to use the correct spelling of terminology both in posting and searching, if the searched word(s) are mispelled or the original posts were mispelled, you won't get hits. One example of that is "Superlight", many use "ultralight" or "superlite", neither are correct, so the hits won't be as thorough and you'll have to remember to try the alternate spellings.  ;)

Tim how can we search this forum (H&R) only? In the search feature I see it only asks for an entry to search for and my only options are to search the Web or search GB's. I have stopped using it much because it is so vague and searches all databases in GBO's instead of only the forum I am interested in and gives to many "hits", I only use it as a last resort now because it's seems to be such a pain.  In the old days I could specify a forum to search but no longer. Am I missing something? Is there a way I can limit the search to a particular forum?...Thanks....<><.... :)

Never mind, I just reread your post and saw that the selective search feature was disabled.... :(

Sometimes people post in nef/h&r because they will get an answer quicker.
If they got more questions maybe the other forums would have more people looking at them to give answers.

If you want to know what caliber or optic for a certain game try posting in ammo, optics or that games forum.
Maybe some of the reloading could go in reloading.
I understand that sometimes these questions are gun specific but sometimes they are not.

This is a great web sight and I would hate to see it get unorganised like so many others.

I don't think we are unorganized yet.. :D :D.. but asking questions on the various forums isn't a bad idea either... provided you let them know where all you asked about your topic. You can always get a-lot of different points of view from different people.

I do this sometimes as I've noticed exactly that.... if you ask the same question in two different forums, you will likely get two entirely different sets of concensus.

Well it seems to me you just made a post that has nothing to do with H&R or NEF centerfire rifles. If you were to follow your own advice you would have posted this in another fourm such as off topic subjects.

I have been somewhat following this post and trying to understand the reasoning behind it but in truth it just slips from my grasp of understanding. I am happy for you that you enjoy speading out your questions(?). I post and read other forums on the GB's site as well, but if you don't object to much I would prefer to spend the majority of my time here with my friends talking about H&R's and NEF's. Which other people do you want to do something different and what might that be, and why again? Do what you want buddy, if you want to get in touch with me you will probably find me around here, I like it here!!!....<><.... ???

Signed.....Your buddy, the Handiholic
