Will a Savage 340 (30-30) barrel fit a Stevens 325B ?
« on: March 21, 2007, 12:51:18 PM »
Hello all, new to this site, belong to many others.   I was given a Stevens 30-30, model 325B.  The inside of the barrel is pitting in some areas.    Just wanted to know if the barrel on either model mentioned above can be swapped out with each other.  I know the savage 340 are much alike and I think the model 840 also.     Are most of the parts on the guns mentioned transferable with each other.

Thanks

Good question.
I have the Stevens 325B in 30-30.

I would think that Gun Parts (formerly Numerich Arms) would know, and looking through their exploded views and parts listings may well give you the answer.

Leinenkugelman eh?  You're likely to get serious attention with a name like that!

Savage made them all, 340, Stevens 325 and CIL 840. Not 100% sure of the 840 #, I think that is what it was called. I have the Savage and Stevens, and the barrels look the same. Try shooting it and see how it groups. I had a Mauser that had a pitted barrel that shot 1" groups with no problem at all.

You might email/call/write the folks at GunParts.

I did two 120 day tours at Ft  McCoy ( 1980 and 1981 - 120 miles from Chippewa Falls) when the distribution range for Leinies was 90 miles.  They made a special run to Fast Eddies once a month for us addicts.  Their Dopplebock is the BEST!

I was under the impression that the barrel and receiver were all in one piece. That's the way they made the Model 30s and 40s. I could be wrong, but can't imagine why they'd change the construction.  ???

The barrels are seperate from the reciever. I have seen replacement barrels for these rifles in .30-30, and in .223.
