22-250 HB problem
« on: March 22, 2007, 04:51:27 PM »
I got a brand new Rossi 22-250 Heavy barrel about a month ago and fired it for the first time last week. The first three rounds fired it was hard to open the action. the fourth and last round the action opened upon firing. Obviously something is wrong with the gun and I'm just wondering since I am new to Rossi's could this problem be caused by a loose or improperly fitted barrel? I plan to return it to the store where purchased this weekend for their gunsmith to look at but I'm wondering if he wont just end up sending it off to Rossi. If it is a loose barrel it can only be fixed by replacing the barrel correct? If so how long does it take for Rossi to do this type of work? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like sending it back to Rossi to be fixed or replaced under warranty would be your best option.  The good news is that I have heard that their CS is pretty good.  You may want to get hold of Rossi's CS dept and see if they will issue a call tag so you won't even get stuck paying for shipping. Here is a link to their service info. page; http://rossiusa.com/main/repair-policy.cfm
