44 magnum range report
« on: March 23, 2007, 11:49:58 PM »
Well H-110 did not do any good in my rifle at all. Acroos the entire load range the 240 XTP's best group @ 50 yards was 2.25"

The Scott SOLO 4100 shined like a new star.
20 and 20.5 grain loads shot under .6 inches. The first group shot a 5 shot group @50 yds = 1.318" with three shots measuring .443"
That was with a new barrel. After 75 rounds and good cleaning every 10 shots the groups have tightened up with no fliers.
3 groups in a row measuring under .6"

no x now!

Very excellent shooting. Did you just get that barrel? I have been reading about the woes of 44 magnum barrels, but reports like yours make me want to order one. Take care, Charlie

Looks like you have found your load, and some good shooting too. This does give hope that NEF may have started fixing these 44Mag barrels. By the looks of it, yours seems to be in order.
Have you slugged the barrel ?

Thank's. Front and rear rests are my best shooting friends.
The barrel is new, and about 2 weeks old.
Not to bad for under a c-note.
