aftermarket trigger for rem 870
« on: March 24, 2007, 03:14:36 AM »
I am new to this board but have hunted with slugs for 20 years, and have a rem 870 cantilever with a 1.75-6X scope. I love this gun but hate the heavy trigger. Many years ago I heard of a Timney replacement trigger for the 870 but cannot seem to find one anywhere. Does anyone know where I could find this( or a similar) trigger?

I would be interested in this too.  I have the Rem. 870 and the trigger is horrible.  How about some help folks.   ;)

Thanks for the info.  But for that kind of money, I can live with the one I got now.  ;)

I found a person on e-bay selling a lighter trigger spring...it was just a few dollars.  It lightened the trigger pull dramatically.  I now have them on all three of my 870's.  The spring was a Patriot trigger spring.
gunbroker.com has them listed:     http://froogle.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=71413357

This is the same spring kit I used.  Took me all of 3-5 min per gun to do the swap

Last year I bought one of the Patriot trigger springs for my 1100.  Got it on ebay for under $10 including shipping.  Works real well.  Took my 8.5 lb trigger pull down to right around 4 lb.  Still has creep in it though.  There is also an ad for a custom trigger pull for around $45 by a person in Ohio.  The Patriot spring does work well though.
