I forgot about that point when I posted prior. Last year I was in my stand hunting a tree line on the small game opener. Aside from the orange vest I had wrapped around a tree near the base of mine, I had my orange hat with me in the tree. At first sign of light, a group of hunters lined up to push the field; I waved my hat around so they would know I was there. I had made GOOD eye contact with the hunter near me. As they moved along a bird went up and came right at me, followed by three blasts of #6 birdshot. The bird flew into the woods and the shot flew into me. One in a million chance. Why can't I be that "lucky" with the lottery!? Then later, after they walked off that field, they came back through the woods. I guess they wanted that one bird that came in there. I'm hoping that PA starts a new season next year. A season on inconsiderate hunters.
Safety is one issue, but my main concern is that all the activity in the woods changes the deer's patterns. Something the archer relies on to be successful. Most archers don't just walk into the woods and look for deer moving around like firearms hunters do. They get right into the deer's pattern of movement. It's real hard to ambush something that ain't moving where you planned.
