Dating an H & R 410-12mm

I am trying to find date of manufacture for a 410-12mm H&R Serial A116**.  Any links to date information appreciated as well.

It looks like it was maded in 1940!

With the "A" prefix, looks like it was manufactured in 1940.

I've never actually dated a shotgun before but have flirted with a few and have dated a few gals over the years before I got married that didn't look nearly as well as some of the shotguns that have come home with me.
