I saw on the local news today, house bill #760 was introduced to the state house of representatives last week.
The bill was introduced by representatives Cruz, Youngblood, Parker, Wheatley, bennington & Curry.
The legislation calls for every gun in Pennsylvania to be registered with the state & each registration must be renewed annually. The registration would cost the gun owner $10 per gun each year. The bill also calls for each gun owner to be fingerprinted, have a backround check & to submit a passport-style photos for registration cards. The registration card for each gun would then have to be carried with that gun at all times. Any gun that registration is denied for would be confiscated by the state police.
House Bill #760 was referred to a committee last week & there's no word on when the house would vote on it.
I would encourage everyone to contact there local representative to vote against this bill!!!!!!!!
I feel this is a violation to our constitutional rights to bear arms & our rights as sportsmen!
What next, gun control, communism???

  • I would rather be shooting!!
Larry this bill is a total crock of s*** . I don't think we have anything to worry about it will never pass. I know alot of people with at least 10 guns and I know a few over 50. So that could cost one person $100 and the other guy over $500 a year just to own something that was garenteed in our constitution. Did you hear of the other bill? They want to out law all semi auto weapons in Pa. That includes handguns and rifles. That is another bill that will never pass. That would 50% of the guns in the state illeagal.

BILL 760: PLEASE DON'T BE COMPLACENT!!
« Reply #4 on: April 08, 2007, 06:54:29 AM »
Sorry I am coming late to the discussion.

I read that bill.  It is more than just a requirement to register firearms.  There is a provision in the bill that deals with storage.

The Pennsylvania State Police are given a great deal of authority under this bill, but there is no mention of accountability.  The handful of PSP troopers I have met are good guys, but I don't want their bureaucracy to decide whether or not I should be able to keep property I legally own, tell me ow to store it and then charge me money for the privilege.

I am not currently a PA resident, but I store the bulk of my firearms there and plan to move back there as soon as possible.

I would think in a state like PA, that this wouldn't pass; but please don't be complacent.

Write your reps.  Let them know that if they vote for this, whether it passes or not, they will not be re-elected. Let them know if it passes they will not be re-elected
if they voted for it or not.  If your rep is one of the ones who introduced this do your damnedest to get rid of them next election!  You cannot retain politicians who think so little of your freedom!!

What gun crime problems do we have in PA that this is intended to solve?

Have these policies worked anywhere they have ever been tried?  I am guessing not.

Are people who use guns illegally going to bother to register?  We all know the answer to this is a big fat "NO"

I would greatly appreciate if you guys back home would post any updates regarding this bill here.

Thank You,
Rummer
