When I had my Handi in [one of the barrels] 45/70,,,I bought SPEER 250 SWC Swaged pistol bullets and paper patched them out to about .460" diameter. Worked great. Took a nice 8 pt buck with bullet entering the rear of the abdomen/rib cage,,traveling thru the diaphram,,lungs, exiting the chest,,entering the front left leg where I found it under the hide next to the leg bone. Guess you could call that penetration. Bullet is shown as I found it. No particles,,just a gum blob of lead that held together like soft lead should. Fun to make and load. Also took a 325 gr[?] bullet meant for hot Colt loads I think. Had a friend that owned the mold to cast some dead soft bullets for paper patching it, too. Worked great in my 45/70, and .458 American [.458 x 2"] I built on a Ruger 77 Mark II rifle using a take off Ruger #3 single shot barrel. Worked like a charm. Also shown is Hornady pistol swage lead bullet I patched and ran back thru a .359"-.360" die. Worked fine in a .358 Win in a bolt Ruger.
