anyone live close to me?
« on: March 27, 2007, 04:40:29 PM »
Hey guys!

My job with the NRCS is great for working in and around alot of wetlands so needless to say in my first week and a half of work I've already found my share of spots to possibly check into beaver trapping. So now I've got the itch.

My problem is I don't have the necessary room or equipment here to do any skinning and I can't afford to buy stuff like that right now.

So my question is does anyone live close to me or know anyone that does whom I could possibly get in contact with for a place to do some skinning? Or are there any NAFA agents or other fur buyers anywhere near here that I could just bring my beaver to? I'd be willing to take the hit for someone else doing the skinning just so I can get out and do some trapping.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. It drives me nuts to see all this beaver sign and not be able to set on it!!!

Yeah I think you're right Tom now that I looked into it...gonna have to hold off till next fall.

Newt, are there alot of guys that trap around here?

By just talking to guys at work they don't know of anyone that does but it would be nice to get a hold of you or others that trap in the area sometime before next season...so I know where to at least stay out of your way. But I work in McLeod and Carver counties so I should be able to make enough landowner contacts that I can stay away from the guys that are already trapping...the last thing I want to do is step on any toes in a new area.

Keith,  its possible if you hook up with someone  close to you that you could ride along if your wanting to learn things.  Don't know what Mn regulations are with trapping but in Wi you would have to  have trapping lic to set or carry traps.. Bet a bvr trapper would like you along to carry his bvr (IF MN allows it)  always room for a strong back in bvr trapping.  Good Luck
