Leupold scope target dot question
« on: March 28, 2007, 02:45:28 AM »
I'm thinking of getting a Leupold 6.5-20x EFR scope for small bore silhouette. My question is should I get the one with the Target dot reticle (is it big enough) or should I just get the duplex and add a larger dot from the custom shop? also do I need a EFR scope to focus down to 25yd for short range practice or will the regular 6.5-20x40 do it?

I just purchased the 6.5x20 EFR and plan on putting it on a smallbore rifle. In fact it will be delivered back to Leupold to install there .0060 dot today via UPS. Go with the EFR version of the scope, that way you will be able to use it on everything from air rifle to high power.
Good luck, Paul

I bought the EFR with cross hairs for a price I thought was real cheap. What size in MOA @100yd is .0067? If it is like 3/8" that sounds good for me.

Your good to go. The EFR one is the one you need, most people prefer the target dot and the .0067 dot (Premier's Silhouette special before they stopped doing custom Leupold work), is what most everyone is using, or the .0060 from the Leupold Custom shop.  Another good place for Leupold optics is http://www.chickensshootingsupply.com/blank.html
