« on: May 16, 2003, 02:02:42 PM »
Has anyone seen or better yet used or tried any of these?

Beeman Coated Pellets

Pellet Style-Caliber-Weight-Count-Price
Wadcutter   Red Coated-.177-7.3 grains-250-$4.70
Hollow Point Gold Coated-.177-7.5 grains-250-$4.70
Pointed Blue Coated-.177-8.6 grains-250-$4.70

· State of the art coated pellets.
· Coating maximizes velocity and accuracy.
· Protects the bore and reduces lead fouling.
· Coating reduces lead contact by 97%.

For the world the hollow points look like the Crow Magnum pellets just slightly smaller.  Lawdog

I've tried the Beeman gold HP bought from WalMart.  From my R7 they are surprisingly accurate at 6 and 10 yards for paper punching - but can't locate the targets to provide actual group size.  No experience on game with them. I inquired on another site and was pooh-poohed as a marketing gimick. Fine.  But they were real cheap and shoot well on paper for me at short ranges.  Not too bad at 90 feet too but I never did any paper groups - only shot a small gong - 2.5 inches. Hit pretty regular though not as well as Crossman copperhead flat points at that range.

You guys are right on.   I tried the gold from Wal Mart against the crossman pointed and found they chronoed 50 to 75 fps better than the crossman.  Think I will try the blue pointed but they will have to come from AGE in Iowa.  Used them in a 34 RWS, a chinese underlever and a Beeman r-9.  Outstanding!!

I bought a tin from Wal-mart and used them in my crosman 2100.  On paper, they were less accurate than max speeds and my cheapo rifle didn't produce enuough velocity to get any expansion or deformation out of them into a phonebook or solid wood backing.  They look cool while holding them in your hand though.
