Linebaugh Bear Gun
« on: March 29, 2007, 01:37:53 PM »
Posting this for a shooting buddy......

Same gun (475 Linebaugh) , with a couple exceptions, that John Linebaugh shot the big bear with last fall.  Super nice grips and excellent workmanship throughout.

Shoots good too.

Please don't judge me too harsely just because I actually associate with poules'deau. The holster was made by Von Ringler of Ringler Custom Leather. Phone number (307)-645-3255 and it is very comfortable and extremely easy to switch from a shoulder rig to either a cross draw or strong side hip holster.

Dustin built it on a Ruger Vaquero frame. It has a 4 3/4 " octagon barrel with an adjustable sliding front sight, SS grip frame and trigger guard and cylinder pin along with cocobolo grips that Dustin fitted like a piece of skin to the grip frame. Now if I can just figure which end of the barrel the bullet comes out I'll be in business. And the really great thing is I made him promise to get all of the misses out before he shipped me the gun. Is this a great country or what.

ive had quite a few custom smiths build me guns and in my opionion you had the best gunsmith going right now build yours. The one he built me is like a swiss watch. Its impressed me so much that i have two others at his shop right now. He combines the knowlege of building a real stout working gun that will last through alot of abuse with the artistry of hamilton bowen and is about the most personalbe person i guy would ever want to meet. In my opinion for what its worth hes raised the bar for all the customs smiths out there a notch or two. Your two toned gun is a beauty and its the thought for the flattop aniversary that i have in his shop right now. Im not sure thats what its going to turn out as but my thoughts were a 4 5/8s oct barreled two toned 475. But i told him the other day that i have my .500s built the way i really like them and gave him the reins on this one and told him to build it the way hed like to and to surprise me. My best friend Al has the identical gun to dustins .475 they were built at the same time and were in an old magazine article when they were first built. It was the gun that got me into shooting big bore guns. The first day I shot the linebaughs he had that one and an adj sighted .500 and I just flat fell in love with that .475! I ordered my first linebaugh gun the next day. Between John and Dustin theyve build me 5 of them so far and every one of them were top shelf guns!!

Thanks for the information.  I remember Dustin wearing that same holster in the pictures from his bear hunt.  If you don't mind me asking, what does a holster like that cost?

Camel 23,

Since the rig isn't mine I'm  not sure but I think the cost was in the $170 or there abouts.

Camel 23,  The cost of the holster is $155.75 plus shipping. It's a dandy of a holster, very comfortable, and easily changed to any of the three ways it can be worn. If you have any questions about it, call Von or talk with Dustin Linebaugh. I know that I'm glad I talked with Dustin about it while he was building my pistol. In my opinion it is worth every penney.

I'm not much on shoulder holsters but I think I need to get one of those!  Now if I could just afford the .475 Dustin Linebaugh Plainsman master piece to put in it!

What about it there Ms. Hitman. Now if I can only locate the slot that the magazine goes in I'll be in tall cotton.

Thanks for the holster info.  I think I'm gonna have to get one of those for hunting season.
